On January 13, 2022 at 3:30 the Kansas House Judiciary Committee took up HB 2477, to extend state emergency orders for COVID. Hidden away in this bill is a section that the nursing home industry wants to make permanent –that only eight hours of on-line training be required for a person to act as a Temporary Nurse Aide. Certified Nurse Aides require 90 hours of classroom and clinical training by comparison. While today’s action by the Committee is only a temporary extension, the industry wants to make this permanent going forward. Kansans deserve to know more about this issue. Read KABC’s statement.
